Everest Base Camp Trek Via Gokyo Lake

Day one is your arrival day in Kathmandu. We will come to welcome you at the airport in Kathmandu and transfer you to the hotel. Upon reaching the hotel and checking in to the rooms, we will let you know about our trip briefing meeting.

It is an important meeting so, we will wait until everyone arrives if there are people flying in different flights for the trip on the same date. Anyway, you will get the information about the meeting time.

It is an acclimatization day as well as an exploration day in Kathmandu. You will also have the time to do last minute preparation on this day if you need to. After you take your breakfast, we will take you for a beautiful sightseeing tour of the cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu. The sites include ancient Buddhist stupas, Hindu temple, and medieval royal palace square. You will explore about the Kathmandu valley civilization since the ancient time. This day tour will give you a better understanding of life in Kathmandu in the past and at present.

Time to fly to Everest! We drive to airport in the morning for our flight to Lukla to enter the beautiful Everest region. After half an hour of amazing flight, we will eventually land at the small airstrip at Lukla. The flight introduces us with the adventure and the magnanimous mountains. Once we land at Lukla, we get ready for the trekking for the day. The first day of walk in the Everest region towards the base camp takes us to Phakding village. This beautiful day walk takes us along an easy stretch of the trail and eventually reaches the beautiful Phakding. We are staying overnight at a mountain lodge on the bank of Dudh Koshi River.

The walk today takes us into the Sagarmatha National Park. After the breakfast, we take the trail along the river valley towards Monjo where we check in to the national park. Our destination for the day is the beautiful and happening Sherpa capital of Namche Bazar. The trail stretch in between Phakding to Namche brings us incredibly beautiful nature and views of the surroundings. We will also cross many suspension bridges along the trail. It is an exciting day of walking in the Everest region before reaching to Namche Bazar to stay overnight.

We have an extra night stopover at Namche Bazar today to acclimatize before heading further higher. It is also a chance for us to explore the beautiful surroundings of Namche today. We can go for hiking exploration to one of the nearby destinations and return back to Namche later. The day will prepare us well for the adventure to go towards the higher elevation.

We are about to take a different route towards Gokyo valley today. Leaving the regular Everest Base Camp trail back, we head to Dole as our destination today. As soon as we start the trek, we can feel more peaceful surroundings with fewer trekkers. The trail brings excellent views of the mountains along the trail. We eventually reach Dole along the river valley to stay overnight.

The day starts with the breakfast at the peaceful surroundings of Dole. We will trek to Machhermo today. It is another day of walk through incredibly peaceful region. We will meet few trekkers along the way heading towards and returning from Gokyo. A short but incredible walking day in the region brings us to the amazing views of the mountains and incredible surroundings.

The day to reach Gokyo valley has eventually arrived today. We walk along the trail that passes through high altitude settlements and other amazing surroundings. The walk also takes us past ancient cave and beautiful glacial lakes along the trail. View of the mountains, glaciers, cave and the lakes makes our day wonderful. We eventually reach the overnight place on the bank of the third Gokyo Lake. After checking into a lodge, we will enjoy relaxing moments exploiting the beauty of the lake and surroundings.

We have an extra overnight stop at Gokyo today to acclimatize and explore the surroundings. The day starts with an early morning hiking effort to the Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to enjoy a surreal view of the Himalayan ranges. This vantage point of Gokyo Ri brings us the incredible view of the mountains including Mt. Everest. We will enjoy the unbelievable view for a while before descending back to Gokyo Lake. The afternoon will be at leisure to admire the surroundings.

We leave the Gokyo Lake behind today and head towards Thagnak as the destination today. It is a short walk in the valley that takes us to the destination with ample time to explore the surroundings. While the walk today is another enjoyable feat, we will also enjoy exploring and admiring the surroundings of Thagnak once we reach there. It is the perfect time to prepare for a challenging walk over the Cho La pass tomorrow morning.

Our day starts early morning with an uphill walking challenge towards the pass. Although it is a tough challenge, we slowly and eventually make it to the Cho La to stand at the elevation of 5,420 meters above sea level. The walk to the pass gets us to an unbelievable surrounding of massive mountains. We will spend some time at the pass to exploit the view before descending to Dzongla to stay overnight. The entire day today is filled with exciting adventure along the tricky trail. We have to be extra careful on the walk today since the trail runs narrowly along the ridge and the mountain.

The walk toady brings the adventure in Gokyo Valley to an end and meets the regular Everest base camp trail at Lobuche. It is a short day walk through spectacular surroundings with the views of mountains. It is an easy walking day to what we have been through yesterday. Once we reach and check into a lodge at Lobuche, we will spend relaxing time around and admire the beauty of the surroundings.

The day to reach the ultimate destination of the adventure eventually arrives today. We get all set to trek to Gorakshep after breakfast. But the excitement is to trek all the way to the Everest base camp after Gorakshep. We take the lunch at our lodge in Gorakshep, where we spend overnight today, before starting the walk to the base camp. The trail from Gorkshep to the base camp is a gradual incline through moraine and boulder filled glacial path. Eventually, we reach the base camp of the highest mountain on earth and spend some quality time creating memories. Later, we return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.

We have another wonderful adventure to embark on and enjoy before starting on the journey back down. We start an early morning hike to Kalapatthar, the highest point on the adventure. This hike is worth taking it early morning to enjoy breathtaking view of Mt. Everest and other magnificent mountains. A beautiful sunrise over those mountains adds to the beauty of the view. Later, we trek back to Gorakshep and further down to Pheriche after breakfast. We stay overnight at Pheriche today.

After the wonderful trek to the base camp and Kalapatthar, we are already on our way back towards Lukla. The destination for our walk today is the beautiful Sherpa village of Khumjung. Once we reach the village and check into a lodge, we will have plenty of time to explore the village. We will explore the cultural traditions and lifestyle of people in the village. There is also a beautiful monastery in the village.

After the cultural exploration at Khumjung village, we get ready to trek further lower today. The trek today takes us to Monjo. We trek past Namche Bazar and reach Monjo to stay overnight after checking out of the national park.

The walking adventure in the Everest region finally comes to the end today. On the last day of the trek, we trek all the way to Lukla along the Dudh Koshi River valley. We wil!l also have plenty of time to explore Lukla’s wonders once we reach there and check into a lodge. A relaxing evening and overnight at Lukla today

We get ready to say good bye to the Everest region. The flight takes us back to Kathmandu with a lot of beautiful memories to cherish. Once we are in Kathmandu, we have the day at leisure simply to wander around and relax after the trekking adventure.
